Air of Superiority vs Assassin's Promise
In a standard PvE environment, Hardmode or Else, which has the upper hand?
Air of Superiority:
Not guaranteed to recharge skills on command, but frees an elite slot.
No downtime since you can't misscast it (you dont have to worry about an enemy not dying or removing it).
Comes with several other semi-useful abilities.
Requires no skill investment and frees up your secondary.
Assassin's Promise:
Pros:
Can guarantee an instant skill recharge from a careful player.
Dependable. Always recharges skills when it works compared to the mutliple random effects of AoS.
Air of Superiority seems to hold the advantage but dependability is what makes a good skill in this game, which is what Assassin's Promise holds. Assassin's Promise is also tried and true.
When would you use each skill, if you would even use either or both? What do you think about these two in comparison?

I have a tendency to use Air of Superiority more for energy then anything else. The recharge is just a side effect.
Plus, if you're doing an area where you're killing large amounts of mobs at once (Urgoz, Deep, DoA etc.) then it's pretty dependable on the recharge-plus all that energy. However if it's just an area with only a couple foes per group, then it's pretty much a battery.

Assassin's Promise is better against smaller mobs, Air of Superiority is vastly superior in areas like Urgoz.

Assassin's promise has some baggage considering its an elite and you do have to devote some att. points to make it any good. But imo its the better bet for the combined big energy boost plus recharge. It allows you to bring a bar full of long recharge skills if you want, which opens many skill combos you'd never consider otherwise, and with the energy boost also casters can become machine gun efficient.

I would never be using Air of superiority for recharging skills, its too damn random. Randomness is not good. Consider in a quite large mob of 10 enemies you still have about a 33% chance of getting no recharges.

Yeah, it really depends on if you basing your build -around- having your skills recharge. If that is the case, I'd go AP, because Air of Superiority is very random.
In all, I would be substituting AP with Air of Superiority in some of the growing "AP mesmer/Necro" builds.
